I cast all my contemporary sculpture pieces using a combination of pre historic and modern methods, allowing for exploration and experimentation.
Drawings allows me to observe and understand the world around me. It informs my ideas and projects. It also allows me to retreat to an internal world.
Surrounded by nature I take my cue from the hedgerows, ditches, fields and woodlands that I wander, with the sensitivity of my casting methods enabling me to cast nature directly in precious or non precious metal.
Textiles and particularly knitting was part of my upbringing. I currently use it as an active form of mindfulness. Both nature and material being the inspirational muse behind the work.
More of my work to be shown on this website (hellehelsner.com). Until then please visit me at babyforest.com/hellehelsner.
